We can give you comprehensive lists of scholarship programs designed specifically for African Americans and for minorities in general.

UNCF - This is a world-renowned organization that makes scholarship programs possible for African Americans.  Their students are able to study in

highly respected academic programs that cost half as much as the average tuition at most private schools.

As many as 400 scholarship and internship programs are administered through UNCF, which gives students from low-income and moderate-income

backgrounds the opportunity to enroll in affordable college programs, without needing to worry about the high costs of tuition, books and supplies, and room and board.

The Ron Brown Scholar Program for High School Seniors At least 10 high school seniors receive these scholarships every year, on the basis of their  outstanding record in academics, leadership potential, financial need, and participation in community service activities. These prestigious scholarships give $10,000 annually to recipients for the four years of their undergraduate degree program. During their college years, Ron Brown Scholars are required to participate in community service projects and to complete internships.

The NAACP Scholarship Program Every year, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) gives out dozens of

scholarships to deserving young people. To be eligible, undergraduates must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and graduate students, a 3.0 GPA. Deadlines for these scholarship applications vary.  In addition, most of these scholarships have designated financial need requirements. To apply for certain scholarships, students must be NAACP members.

The scholarships mentioned here are only a few of the many that are offered to African American students.  To find the scholarship program that is best-suited to your situation and needs, check out the free resources listed on this site.
